Weather expected to settle down with high pressure forecast and hopes it will be slow to move away

High pressure is due to sweep the country in the coming week, bring with it higher temperatures and more settled conditions.

Less rain is forecast, with rainfall due to be 'below average' this week across the country.

As the weekend folds in, sunnier spells can be expected, especially in the south where higher pressure is expected compared to the north.

Hopes that the high pressure will be 'a little stubborn to move' have been reported by popular social media weather reporter, Carlow Weather, who said: "High pressure moving towards us and could be a little stubborn to move, hopefully."

Carlow Weather on X (formerly Twitter) is run by Alan Reilly, who also shared with his 111.8k followers that "it’s a long time since I seen so little [rain] forecast for 10 days".

Additionally, Met Eireann have reported: "Rainfall amounts will be below average. Low pressure to the north of Ireland and high pressure to the south will mean that most rainfall will be further north. Mean temperatures will be around average for early to mid-April."

Overview: Patches of light rain or drizzle at times, but overall a lot of dry weather and gradually increasing daytime temperatures. The weekend will see highs of 17 to 18 degrees.
