Ryan took to social media to announce the news
Ryan Tubridy is set to make a very public appearance on the same night as Patrick Kietly's first ever Late Late Toy Show.
Tubs will no doubt be donning one of his many Christmas jumpers, but this time it won't be an excitable audience he'll be lighting up, it will be the Christmas lights in Clifden, Connemara.
The former RTÉ star said he was "honoured" at being selected for the task on Friday November 24 in what he called his "favourite town".
Tubridy took to social media to announce the news which will give the town a Clifden a great boost for the Christmas season.
In the post he said: "Big job to do in a few weeks time as the good people of Clifden, Co. Galway have invited me to switch on their Christmas lights on Friday November 24 at 6pm.
"I'm honoured! Any excuse to get back to my favourite town" before adding "Up to the attic now to dig out a jumper!".
The presenter who was publicly axed from RTÉ following controversy surrounding RTE finances is tipped to begin hosting a podcast series for UK radio station Virgin.
Meanwhile, current Late Late show host Patrick Kielty is gearing up for the annual Toy Show event amid dwindling figures of the Friday night staple with last Friday's show seeing a drop of 6,000 viewers.
RTÉ is also in turmoil as just yesterday, it published its ten-point plan to get the state broadcaster back on track, with significant expenditure cuts at the forefront of the proposed strategy.
With the Toy Show just under two weeks away, it's clear RTÉ will be hoping for a big viewer turnaround.
