The development is to be at the former Gerry Chawke’s Bar.

Planning permission is being sought for a ’gaming centre’ in Clonmel, at 1 William Street, the site of the former Gerry Chawke’s Bar.

The planning documents indicate that the operating hours are to be from 9am to 1am, with diagrams showing an internal layout with about 47 stools and arcade machines.

The application for the ‘gaming centre’ was lodged with the council on July 29, with a decision due by mid-September.

The Cork-based applicant, Coalquay Leisure Ltd, were last August granted permission for a similar development in the former Quik Pick on Silver Street in Nenagh, and are also behind casinos in Midleton in East Cork. They had previously applied for permission for a similar development in Ballincollig, Cork City, which was ultimately refused.
