There was great sorrow in Tipperary GAA circles last night with the news of the passing of Tipperary hurling legend Mick Burns of Nenagh.
Five times an All Ireland senior hurling winner with Tipperary, Nenagh Éire Óg man Burns played with the Premier in the 1950's and 1960's and was a huge part of one of the greatest teams ever assembled in the county's history.
He won seven Munster titles in his time in the Tipperary ranks, and was renowned as a teak tough defender in the right wing back position, while he also won two North senior hurling titles with his club Nenagh Éire Óg in 1957 and 1964.
Funeral details will follow in the coming days. May he rest in peace.
