Nenagh man who grew cannabis plants had cookbook seized by gardaí during raid File photo
A Nenagh man told gardaí he was growing cannabis plants to “see what would happen”, Nenagh District Court was told.
Robert Daniel, 31, of Bruachlaun, Gortlandroe, Nenagh, pleaded to cultivating cannabis at Bruachlaun on July 31, 2021.
The court heard that the gardaí carried out a search at the premises and found two cannabis plants in a yard behind a shed.
The court heard that the plants had not matured and had an estimated total street value of €200.
His solicitor, Liz McKeever, told the court that Mr Daniel had been “experimenting” and wanted to see what would happen with the plants.
She revealed that the gardaí had also seized a cookbook Mr Daniel had been using during the search.
“Could he not have used a different cookbook?” asked Judge Elizabeth MacGrath.
She fined Mr Daniel €300 and set recognizance in his own bond of €250.
