Cattle, tractors, vintage cars and music: Nenagh Show will promises plenty for everyone

Cattle, tractors, vintage cars and music: Nenagh Show will promises plenty for everyone

Aishling Rafferty will take to the stage at the North Tipperary Agricultural Show

With just over four weeks to go to this year’s North Tipperary Agricultural Show the committee are busy working away behind the scenes in preparation for what the organisers hope will be an even bigger and better show.

The North Tipperary Agricultural Show, which was established in 1875, is one of Ireland’s oldest and best shows, said show chair Brendan Murphy. The people of Nenagh, north Tipperary and beyond had supported it for generations through volunteering, exhibiting , sponsoring and attendances each year, all of which played a role in making the show a success.

Mr Murphy revealed that, this year, some changes have been made to the show, which they felt will help the show appeal to a wider audience.

The show will retain the cattle classes which have seen strong entries over the last number of years, the sheep classes have been adjusted which they hope will see some stronger entries as they intend to grow this section over the next few years.

“It is with much regret that we officially announce that there will be no showjumping again at this year’s show,” he said. “However, we will have pony classes and the working hunter classes as per last year’s show.”

They will also have the popular dog show as normal. There are some new competitions being added to the horticultural tent, including a Pimp your Wellies competition which will add a bit of fun to the show.

All details of these and more are available in the show schedule which will be available in the coming days on the show’s website, www.northtippshow.com

“We really want to make this year’s show even more family friendly. We are delighted to announce that we will have a great line up of music starting with Tex Deegan, followed by our own Bubba Shakespeare, Nenagh Brass Band and in the afternoon we have our local Glór Tíre winner 2022 Aishling Rafferty live on stage, which all together will ensure a great variety of musical entertainment for everyone,” said Brendan.

Woolys pet farm will be at the show with a fantastic variety of animals both big and small - and they will also be bringing a very special guest animal on the day which cannot be missed!!

Mr Murphy revealed that there will be bouncy castles, face painting and a fancy dress competition for children with plenty of prizes to the won. The fancy dress theme is The Greatest Showman movie.

The show will also have a large selection of classic and vintage cars and tractors.

Mr Murphy said that the committee are encouraging clubs and voluntary groups to take a free community stand and have a presence at the show.
