A Tipperary businessman has recounted how he had a lucky escape this Friday after his car aquaplaned on the M7 during a heavy deluge of rain.

Andy Egan, who runs Silver Rock Studios, which is earmarked for a site in Lisbunny Industrial Estate outside Nenagh, recalled the incident on his Facebook page.

Mr Egan revealed that his car did two 360 degree turns before coming to a halt in the grass verge.

"An interesting day! Aquaplaned on the M7 motorway in a massive downpour. 2x360s missed central reservation and all cars , but once my tyres touched the grass I was a passenger along the hedge. Thank you D’Arcy Cleary, Nenagh, the Garda and Corcoran’s Recovery from Port Laoise. All were fantastic in the pouring rain. No injuries, live to fight another day," he wrote.
