Tipperary New York Hurling Club win championship final with big Premier contributions

New York Senior Hurling Championship Final

Tipperary Hurling Club 2-22

Waterford Hurling Club 3-13

Tipperary Hurling Club New York had a convincing victory in last weekend's championship final in the Big Apple, as they accounted for Waterford Hurling Club New York in a high-quality decider at the packed venue of Gaelic Park.

And once again, as is always common in the club stateside, Tipperary natives made the bulk of the team and had heavy contributions all over the pitch in the victory.

In what was a largely dominant display from the Premier players in the final, the key scoring contributors came in the form of Conor Hammersley (Clonoulty Rossmore) who hit 0-7 in the game, while other Tipp names like Portroe duo Ruadhan Mulrooney and AJ Willis notched 1-5 between them. Former Limerick All Ireland winner Pat Ryan was the man in the middle of the aforementioned Portroe men in the full forward line, and he also helped himself to 1-3 from play during the game.

Elsewhere on the pitch, the likes of Darragh Peters of Kilruane MacDonaghs, Mikey Sheedy of Portroe, and Bill Maher of Kilsheelan Kilcash all featured strongly during the game, and despite a late scare where Waterford scored three goals in the last ten minutes, the Tipperary team held out for a good victory.

Scorers: Conor Hammersley (0-7, 0-4f), Pat Ryan 1-3, AJ Willis 1-1, Ruadhan Mulrooney 0-4, Darragh Hynes, Darragh Peters, James Keyes, Henry Keyes, Joey Grace, Mikey Sheedy, and Mark Caulfield all 0-1 each.
