Massive €5m investment has potential to bring estimated new 30 jobs to this Tipperary town

Roscrea is in line for a welcome jobs boost with a new business located at the Business and Innovation Park in Benamore.

The news has been welcomed by Cllr Shane Lee, who has been actively promoting the Business and Innovation Park since he was first elected to Tipperary County Council in 2019.

This proposal to expand to the Roscrea Business and Innovation Park has been made by Nenagh-based Quitmann O’Neill Facilities Limited.

The company has operated successfully out of existing facilities in Portumna, county Galway for the past 30 years, where it is involved in the provision and reuse of Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) to the pharmaceutical and food sectors.

Proposals for the Business and Innovation Park in Roscrea provide for the construction of a 22,000-square-foot building, with associated parking and utilities.

This will involve an investment of approximately €5m with a medium-term potential to employ 30 people. 

A Section 183 application for the disposal of 6.5 acres at Roscrea Business and Innovation Park, Benamore, Roscrea, will come before the September meeting of Tipperary County Council.

This Section 183 is standard local authority procedure for the disposal of land.

Once formally agreed, disposal of the land may proceed unless the authority resolves otherwise. In the unlikely event of this happening, the authority must make this known at their first meeting held after the expiration of 10 days after the Service of Notice.

Once granted, the project proceeds subject to the receipt of planning permission.

It is anticipated that this move will pave the way for further disposals to suitable employment and value-creation projects on the remaining 23 acres in Benamore.
