Nenagh tourist office has attracted a huge number of visitors since it opened its doors

A total of 15,000 people have visited the Tourist Office in Nenagh since it opened in Banba Square in 2021, Nenagh District Administrator Rosemary Joyce informed councillors at their monthly meeting.

Numbers coming to the office continue to increase, and so far this year the office has seen 7,000 visitors come through its doors.

Ms Joyce also revealed that the facility just been accredited by Fáilte Ireland as a registered tourist office which, she said, was a major boost for the facility.

Cllr Seamus Morris said the office was an amazing facility, and he praised Ms Joyce and the tourist officer, Victoria Lee, for the work they had put in to promoting the facility and the adjacent cultural quarter of Nenagh, the pride of which was the historic courthouse, castle and former county gaol.

Nenagh native, Ann Scroope of Scroope Design, also came in for praise from councillors for coming up with the imaginative design and concept for the office.

The tourist office, which is a microcosym of what Nenagh and Lower Ormond has to offer, is open Tuesday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm.

As well as offering tourism advice, the office has a permanent display featuring some of the more famous people from the area and local artefacts.
