The Nenagh Darkness Into Light Committee
The voluntary organisers of Nenagh Darkness Into Light 2023 have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the people of Nenagh and surrounding areas for their very generous support for their 2023 fundraiser.
This year’s 5km walk took place during sunrise on the morning of Saturday, May 6, and marked a return to the much larger crowds attending and supporting the event.
Nenagh DIL Chairperson, Ryan O'Meara said: “We are extremely grateful to the people of Nenagh and surrounding areas for their unwavering and generous support for our fundraising efforts again this year.
“As a result of the commitment of local people to this cause, our fundraising rose to €20,133.57 this year.
“Donations for the event continued to be received online in the weeks and months after the event and we are delighted to have received a final total from Pieta House for the Nenagh area.”
Mr O’Meara said that without the generosity and commitment of the community, this would not be possible.
Local schools, clubs, business, media, and our entire community came in behind the event this year to make it a success and we really appreciate it. This funding will save lives and will make a difference to those most in need, Mr O’Meara said.
Pieta was founded in Dublin in 2006. Pieta was established to provide free, accessible one-to-one counselling to people suffering from suicidal ideation, engaging in self-harm or to those bereaved by suicide.
With hundreds of qualified therapists across numerous physical centres, online and over the phone, they do everything they can to ensure that help is available to those in crisis.
