BREAKING: Nenagh undertaker to look after the funeral of musician Shane MacGowan

Tipperary undertaking business JJ Ryan's is to look after the funeral arrangements for legendary musician Shane MacGowan, who passed away this Thursday.

The business, which is run by Shane's friend Philly Ryan in Nenagh, has posted Shane's death notice on rip.ie

Shane was a regular in Philly's pub on Connolly Street in the town, often dropping in for a pint and a game of pool.

The announcement that a local undertaker will now handle the funeral arrangements has increased speculation that Shane's funeral Mass will be in his beloved Tipperary.

Shane's father Maurice and his sister Siobhán both live in the Nenagh area.

The death notice reads:

It is with the deepest sorrow and heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of SHANE MACGOWAN RIP

Shane died peacefully, on Thursday, 30th November, 2023, with his wife Victoria and family by his side.

He is predeceased by his mother Therese and is survived by his beloved wife Victoria, his sister Siobhan and his father, Maurice, family and a large circle of friends.

Further details will be announced shortly, the family ask for privacy at this very sad time.
