Thousands of mourners are exected to line the route for when Pogues lead singer Shane MacGowan's funeral cortege enters Nenagh enroute to his Requiem Mass in St Mary of the Rosary Church this Friday.

An estimated 6,000 people are expected to arrive in the town to pay their respects as the legendary singer / songwriter makes his final journey.

Having left Dublin that morning, the cortege will leave the M7 at the Thurles junction, passing through Tyone, before heading along Kenyon Street, Pearse Street and Church Road, where it will enter the church grounds for Shane's funeral Mass at 3.30pm.
