People in this Tipperary village are being asked to stop parking on footpaths

The director of roads at Tipperary County Council Marcus O’Connor has asked people in Portroe not to park on footpaths.

He said at a recent sitting on Nenagh Municipal District Council that the improvement scheme had ‘worked well,’ but it is ‘disappointing’ to see people park their cars on the paths.

“I would appeal to people to stop parking on footpaths.

“We haven’t taken any enforcement action, but we may have to unless it can be resolved with cooperation,” said Mr O’Connor.

He asked locals to consider that cars on footpaths make it difficult for people in wheelchairs to use the paths.

And he said, replacing the paths is quite expensive.
