The staff at the Abbey Court Hotel in Nenagh have raised over €4,000 for the McCarthy family for the Leukemia Support Fund for Una McCarthy.

Una, from outside Nenagh, was diagnosed with a rare aggressive type of acute leukemia.

Una has been left with many health conditions following two strokes and as a result of so much chemo her heart has been affected.

She has also been left with scarring on her lungs.Una has been told she will not be able to work again. She now has a huge mountain to climb with her bone marrow transplant transplant and the recovery after this.

Una and her husband Benny have gone from two incomes to now no income.

Her husband managed to work the first few months while still traveling in and out of hospital every day to be by her side. But when Una had her bad relapse last June, he could no longer work as Una is completely dependent on him.
