Meet the new Nenagh councillors and reacquaint yourself with the re-elected

A shake up in Nenagh with new additions to Tipperary County Council on board

The winner's have been announced and the people of the Nenagh LEA are starting to see election posters disappearing from roads throughout the area. So, before the new council get's back to work, meet the newly elected and re-acquaint yourself with the veterans. 

Ryan O’Meara is a member of Fianna Fáil and now the youngest member of Nenagh councillors at 28-years-old. In recent years, he has worked as parliamentary assistant for TD Jackie Cahill and as Director of Nenagh Credit Union. Ryan is also Chairperson of Nenagh Darkness Into Light and member of several other community groups including the North Tipperary Agricultural Show.

The Labour Party’s Louise Morgan Walsh, who was just edged out by Cllr Hughie McGrath in the final two counts in 2019, now takes her seat as the only woman on the council in the Nenagh LEA. Louise is a Clinical Nurse Manager from Nenagh General Hospital and a mum to three children. She is also Chairperson of the Tipperary Labour Party Constituency Council.

Now re-elected, this becomes Cllr Joe Hannigan's third term as party of Tipperary County Council. He is an Independent and a native of Kilbarron just outside of Borrisokane. Hannigan is a committee member of, North Tipperary Genealogy & Heritage Services, L.C.D.C - Local Community and Development Committee and Economic Development & Enterprise SPC. 

Cllr Michael O'Meara returns for a fourth time as part of Tipperary TD Michael Lowry’s team and hails from the Lorrha area in Lower Ormond. He is from a farming background and heavily involved in the GAA at local club level, he’s chairman of the Borrisokane Community Sports Grounds which promote soccer, athletics and tennis. He also assists the Panic Alarms Scheme for older people and is a member of Lorrha GAA and the IFA.

Finally, Cllr Seamus Morris also returns for a fourth run as County Council member. He is local to Nenagh town and is a committee member in Regional Health Forum West, Privilege & Procedure Committee, Economic Development & Enterprise SPC and Mid West Regional Drugs & Alcohol Forum.
