Nenagh’s two new councillors Cllr Ryan O’Meara and Cllr Louise Morgan Walsh are a breath of fresh air to the Nenagh LEA.
The re-elected Nenagh councillors have made some notable efforts in the past for the younger generation and the female cohort in the Nenagh LEA.However, having people on board who are a part of these demographics and live the same experiences as them will be an invaluable addition when tackling the issues faced by the local people.
Cllr Ryan O’Meara’s educational background boasts an undergraduate degree in Economics, Political Science and International Relations and a Masters of Common Law from UCD.
He has also worked as parliamentary assistant to Jackie Cahill TD and as Director of Nenagh Credit Union.
Outside of this, he is a well known face in the community, having held a significant presence in community activist groups in the area.
Cllr O’Meara is Chairperson of Nenagh Darkness Into Light, a founding member of the Nenagh Mental Health Awareness Community, a member of the management committee in the Thomas MacDonagh Museum, Cloughjordan and committee member in the Nenagh Barracks Committee, the North Tipperary Agricultural Show, and the North Tipperary Community Rail Partnership. His finger is absolutely on the pulse when it comes to the goings on in Nenagh town and with many friends and acquaintances across all age groups, he will bring great insight to decision makers in the area.
Cllr Louise Morgan Walsh is a Clinical Nurse Manager from Nenagh General Hospital and a mum to three children. With issues faced by health workers constantly dominating the news and concerns of the Nenagh electorate in particular, Louise is sure to be able to provide an excellent contribution to these matters as someone who has faced them first-hand.
There is also no denying the unique lived experience of a mother and she will be able to bring this experience to the table when helping parents of the Nenagh LEA.
Not only do Cllr Morgan Walsh's own experiences make her a strong new addition but the fact that fellow Labour Party member, Alan Kelly TD is in such close proximity will no doubt stand to her as well.
