LATEST: Father and son killed in Tipperary house fire named locally

The investigation as to the cause of the fire is still underway

Littleton

The names of the father and son who tragically died in a house fire in Littleton, Thurles yesterday morning have now been confirmed to be Stephen and John Lee.

The two men, aged in their 80s and 50s, were found dead at the house after emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 2:30am when an alarm was raised by neighbours who had heard a commotion at the back of the house.

John Lee was staying with his father Stephen on the night of the fire as part of his regularly routine of staying with his elderly father to care for him.

Local representative Cllr Sean Ryan passed on his sincere condolences to the Lee family on the tragic passing of Stephen & John: "The Lee family were a hugely respected family in our village and the passing of Stephen and John has left the village numbed. I want to thank  the Emergency services and all the neighbours in Littleton who did all they could to help."

The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed as the investigation is still underway by Gardaí and emergency services.
