The news that Tipperary County Council has granted planning permission for a new €20m primary care centre at Tyone, Nenagh, has been welcomed by Deputy Alan Kelly.

The Labour TD Kelly said that he was first approached to support the project a number of years ago, and that, since, a huge amount of work had gone into this project.

“I want to congratulate Nenagh RFC and Bluemont Developments for their foresight and diligence. I also want to thank Tipperary County Council for their efforts as well as the HSE. In particular it is important to acknowledge the co-operation of the ESB who were extremely helpful when I approached them about this project,” he said.

Deputy Kelly said that the facility would be fantastic for Nenagh with all the facilities needed in a primary care centre.

“This development will further develop Tyone as a massive healthcare campus with the expanded Nenagh hospital and the new St Conlon’s nursing home. I’m particularly pleased that we have got to this point as the vision for this part of Nenagh as a healthcare campus was something I have supported and fought for funding for over many years,” he said.

Deputy Kelly said that he looked forward to St Conlon’s care unit being opened and the work commencing on the new primary care centre next year.

The three-storey development, which will sit on 80,000 square feet, is being led by Bluemont Development headed by Borrisokane man Tony D'Arcy.
