Moldovan Ambassador welcomed to Nenagh for the second time this year

Tipperary County Council recently welcomed Her Excellency Mrs Larisa Miculet, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova, to Nenagh for the second time this year.
She was accompanied by Igor Moldovan, Counsellor from the Moldovan Embassy.
On her first visit, Ambassador Miculet visited the ABP premises and, this time Carey Glass. She also met with representatives from business and farming to discuss economic and investment opportunities offered by the Republic of Moldova.
Cathaoirleach Roger Kennedy, Tipperary County Council, accorded the Ambassador a Cathaoirleach's welcome at the Civic Offices.
Also present was Councillor Hughie McGrath, Cathaoirleach of Nenagh Municipal District; Chief Executive Joe MacGrath; a number of the members and the staff of Tipperary County Council and Baden Powell, Chairman of the North Tipperary Branch of the Irish Farmers Association.
Mr MacGrath spoke of Tipperary and, in particular, the efforts to promote tourism in the area. Cllr. Kennedy presented the
Ambassador with a framed scroll to mark her visit and a piece of art by Lynn Kenny depicting Nenagh Castle.
Presentations were given on the Tipperary tourism product and the Tipperary economy.
During their presentations, the Ambassador and Councillor, Igor Moldovan, explained the growing IT sector in Moldova and the economic challenges Moldova faced due to the war in Ukraine.
The Ambassador spoke about Moldova's dependence on Russia for energy and the high level of emigration.
She also advised of the country's application to join the EU and acknowledged the support given by Ireland in this regard.
She invited people to come and visit Moldova.
TOUR OF NENAGH
On her visit, she also had breakfast in the Lakeside Hotel, Ballina, with Cllr Phyll Bugler, Tourism Marketing Officer Sinéad Cahalan, Arlene White and District Administrator Rosemary Joyce.
Following the event at the Civic Offices, the Ambassador visited the castle and gardens and the Nenagh Tourist Office, where she met with Artiom Cecean, Simion Girlea and Adrian Antoic – three Moldovans attending the Nenagh CBS.
They presented her with a posy of flowers wrapped in ribbons in the colours of the Moldovan flag.
Over 300 Moldovans living and working in the Nenagh area, and the Ambassador was keen to meet with them.
