New county arts strategy adopted by Tipperary County Council
Tipperary County Council has adopted a new county-wide arts strategy for 2023-2027 at this week's session.
Chief Executive Joe MacGrath welcomed the new plan and acknowledged the work of staff in creating it.
“It is always an important day when an arts strategy is set out,” said Mr MacGrath.
This followed a presentation by a representative of the arts office who said they were ambitious in their plan for the arts and those they work with.
Cllr Seamus Hanafin welcomed the plan and said:
“We are very fortunate to have a rich arts and heritage culture."
However, he said he was disappointed that the Source was not mentioned as it is the regional centre for arts.
Cllr Sean Ryan also acknowledged the work of staff and praised the various projects going on in Tipperary communities.
“It’s been fabulous,” he said.
Cllr Andy Moloney recognised the challenges the arts have seen in the past few years and the opportunities and said Tipperary arts had adapted well.
County Cathaoirleach Rodger Kennedy thanked the arts office for all their work.
He said he thought it was important for the public to know how hard they work to support community arts across the county.
