The late Ted Moynihan
The restaurant and pub world of Tipperary was in mourning this week following the death of one of its legendary members, Timothy Moynihan.
Known to everyone as Ted, Mr Moynihan, Ballintoher House, Nenagh, ran Matt the Thresher in Birdhill for countless number of years.
The award winning pub and restaurant are not just popular with locals, but is a must stop for many people travelling to the south west and west coasts. Many thought the establishment would suffer with the opening of the M7 but, instead, it gained an even greater reputation among travellers.
Though he had taken a bit of a back seat of late, Ted was still to be found most days meeting customers in the iconic premises located in the former National Tidy Towns winning village.
Ted passed away peacefully this Tuesday, surrounded by his family, while in the tender care of the wonderful staff in St Vincent’s Private Hospital.
Beloved husband of Kay and much-loved father of Charlotte, Ted will be very sadly missed by his wife, daughter, son-in-law Jimmy; his three adored grandsons, James, Ted and Marcus; brothers John, Eamon and Donal; sister Anne, extended family, and a wide circle of friends.
Funeral arriving at St Mary of the Rosary Church, Nenagh this Friday, July 7, for Requiem Mass at 11am, followed by burial at Lisbunny Cemetery, Nenagh.
Family flowers only; donations, if desired, to Irish Cancer Society.
