All-Ireland U16A Camogie Championship - Round 2
Tipperary 0-10
Cork 3-7
Tipperary suffered their second successive defeat in the U16 A All-Ireland championship losing to a fancied Cork side on Sunday in Cork.
It was an improved Tipperary performance from their opening round defeat to Limerick but ultimately the concession of three goals was the difference between the sides. At the other end, Tipperary failed to pose a real goal threat like their counterparts making it impossible to eat into Cork’s lead.
The opening score of the game was a long shot from Laura Walsh after 10 minutes which found its way into the goals and Cork were up and running. Clara Murphy added two 45ms to leave it 1-2 to no score after 18 minutes. Tipp hit the next three points in quick succession from Grace Cleary and Emma Bonnar (2) to leave just two between the sides.
Disaster struck however a minute later when Gemma Classin got Cork’s second goal to put them in a commanding position once again.
Clara Murphy then added a free before Grace Cleary struck two frees to leave the half-time score 2-3 to 0-5.
In the second half, both sides exchanged points with free-takers Grace Cleary and Clara Murphy on target.
Tipp held Cork scoreless from the 48th minute on but crucially Cork’s final score of the game was a Laura Walsh goal to make it 3-7 to 0-8.
Tipperary finished well with two well-taken points from Isabelle Kingston and Grace Cleary but the goals that were much needed never came.
