A pedestrian crossing on Kenyon Street in Nenagh is needed on what is one of the busiest streets in the town.
That was the view of Nenagh Councillor Joe Hannigan at the recent meeting of the Nenagh Municipal District.
Speaking about the new one-way system in Nenagh, Cllr Hannigan questioned the logic behind not having a pedestrian crossing on the street, despite the recent works in the town and he posed the question to town engineers in the meeting last week.
“What was the consideration”, Hannigan said when asking the engineers about why it was deemed unnecessary not to have a pedestrian crossing on the busy town centre street.
Executive Engineer Paul Keane responded to the query from the Cllr Hannigan and admitted there was no particular reasoning for not putting a crossing on Kenyon Street and assured the Councillors that it would be looked at in the next few weeks and months.
Interjecting on the questioning was Cllr Seamus Morris who also asked that the one-way system down Connolly Street be addressed as motorists are still unaware that the direction of traffic has changed. Mr Keane responded to say that he would look into it.
