David Peters, a solicitor based in Nenagh, has been appointed as the State Solicitor for North Tipperary.
Peters, aged 49, will succeed Michelle O’Connell of Thurles, who held the position for nine years before moving on to become the County Registrar for Tipperary and Waterford. The vacancy for the State Solicitor role was announced earlier this year.
Expressing enthusiasm about his new role, Peters looks forward to representing the Director of Public Prosecutions in his home county. He will also continue his private legal practice from his office in Nenagh. Since qualifying in 2001, Peters has amassed considerable experience in criminal defence and legal administrative work, including conveyancing.
The role of State Solicitor involves working under a tenured arrangement with the Director of Public Prosecutions, handling cases outside Dublin.
There are a total of 32 Local State Solicitors providing these services across various regions.
