With Tipperary still in the hunt for a spot in the Munster final, here’s exactly what needs to go right on Sunday afternoon to book a date with destiny.

Tipperary currently sit in second place on five points after four games, behind table-toppers Limerick (5 points). Cork and Waterford remain in the mix.

Tipperary's path is relatively clear - but it's not guaranteed. Their fate hinges on the outcomes of Cork versus Waterford which throw in at 4pm on Sunday.

Here are the key scenarios that would send Tipperary through to the provincial decider:

Scenario 1: Limerick and Waterford win

  • Tipperary would advance without fuss, with Waterford qualifying third and Cork dropping out altogether.

Scenario 2: Limerick win, Cork and Waterford draw

  • Again, Tipp through to the final comfortably, a point clear of Cork in third.

Scenario 3: Both games end in draws

  • Tipperary would qualify in second place for the final.

Scenario 4: Clare and Waterford win

  • Tipp's place in the final would be secured with Waterford finishing third, with Cork missing out on qualification.

The Scenarios Where Tipp Miss Out

Cork and Limerick win

  • Tipp, Cork finish on 5 points, with Limerick on top with 7 points.

  • Cork advance on head-to-head over Tipperary.

Cork win and Limerick/Clare draw

  • Cork and Limerick finish ahead of Tipp.

  • Again, Cork’s head-to-head win over Tipp proves decisive.

Tipperary’s path to the Munster final is alive and well, but out of their hands. Having wrapped up their group campaign, all they can do now is watch and hope.

Limerick winning is the most direct route for Tipp, especially if paired with either a Waterford win or a draw in Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

Premier fans will be keeping close tabs on both matches this Sunday. It’s edge-of-the-seat stuff, but for now, hope springs eternal in Tipperary.
