A man in his 40s is believed to be in critical condition in hospital after what Gardaí have described as a “serious assault” at Knockane, Co. Tipperary on Saturday evening.
It has been reported by the Irish Mirror that the man was doused in petrol and set on fire.

Two men, both aged in their 20s, were arrested in connection with the incident a short time later and they still remain in garda custody.
A gardai spokesperson said: "Shortly after 9pm on Saturday, 11th October 2025, Gardaí responded to reports of a serious assault at Knockane, Co. Tipperary. A male in his 40s was treated at the scene and subsequently transported by ambulance to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries."
They continued: "Two males, both in their 20s, were later arrested in connection with the investigation. They are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in Co. Tipperary."
"Investigations are ongoing."
