It was a proud night for Tipperary camogie as Mairéad Eviston claimed her first-ever PwC GPA Camogie All-Star at last night’s awards ceremony, taking her place at right wing-back on the 2025 All-Star team. The Drom & Inch defender, long recognised for her consistency and leadership, finally earned the national recognition her performances have demanded.

Eviston’s award capped off a memorable evening for the Premier County, who enjoyed five nominations in total — a strong reflection of the depth and quality within the panel this season. Joining Eviston on the shortlist were Karin Blair, Karen Kennedy, Róisín Howard, and Grace O’Brien, ensuring Tipperary were represented in defence, midfield, and attack. While Eviston was the only Tipp player to make the final team, the collective acknowledgement highlighted the county’s balanced and talented squad.
This year’s campaign was marked by resilience and steady progress. Tipp’s defensive unit, anchored by Eviston and supported by the emerging brilliance of Karin Blair, proved one of the most reliable in the championship. In midfield, Karen Kennedy once again delivered the drive, athleticism, and leadership she has become known for, while in the forward line Róisín Howard and Grace O’Brien consistently provided scoring power and creativity. Their combined efforts saw Tipperary remain competitive throughout league and championship, with several standout team performances along the way.
Off the field, it has also been a significant month for the future of camogie in the county. At the County Board meeting held on October 16, James Heffernan of Clonoulty-Rossmore was ratified as the new Tipperary Senior Camogie Manager for the 2026 season. Appointed on a two-year term, Heffernan is widely respected for his work at club level and will now lead the county into a new chapter. His arrival has been warmly welcomed across the camogie community, with hopes high that he can build on the platform established in recent seasons.
Eviston’s All-Star success stands as a great personal achievement for a player who has consistently proven herself at the highest level. There will now be a focus on the season ahead, with hope that Tipperary can build on this platform and further elevate their performances next year.
