A Patrick Colville hat-trick helped Rockwell/Rosegreen to a very comfortable victory over Eire Og/Emly in Annacarty on Sunday afternoon in the McGrath Oil West Tipperary Under 21 B Football Championship semi-final.
The recent rain had cleared but was replaced by a sharp breeze. The first twenty minutes of this game were close, with very little between the teams on the scoreboard. The difference was that Rockwell/Rosegreen found their shooting boots after missing a number of early efforts and they quickly pulled away.
When Patrick Colville goaled in the 23rd minute the combination were never headed again and by half-time had opened up an eleven-point advantage. Further second half goals and a largely dominant display cemented their place in the final.

The scoring in the opening quarter was sparse. Liam Moloney had an early point for Rockwell Rosegreen, who played with the elements in the early stages of the opening half, with the breeze gradually going diagonally across the field.
Eire Og/Emly’s opening score saw Evan Hennesy kick the ball along the ground into the net. It was early in the second half before Liam Moloney tied the game. The game's second goal arrived six minutes later when Colin Burke set up Patrick Colville from close range. When Jack McGonigle was brought down in the square, Liam Moloney converted the resulting penalty.
Michael Furlong also received a black card for the challenge. A third goal from Cian O’Brien had Rockwell/Rosegreen ahead 3-5 to 1-0 at the break.

Evan Hennessy had an early point for Eire Og/Emly, as they tried to take the game to Rockwell/Rosegreen in the early stages of the second half.
However, Patrick Colville’s second goal, which came in the ninth minute, got Rockwell/Rosegreen moving again. Scores were slow to come by as the half progressed, with points from Coiln Burke and Jamie Lawrence adding to the lead while Liam Crosse and Lewie Kavanagh pointed for Eire Og/Emly.
Six minutes before the end Patrick Colville completed his hat-trick and Rockwell/Rosegreen saw out the game.

They will now meet Aherlow Gaels in the final.
