Choral rehearsals begin this week for Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society’s 2026 show– Man of La Mancha – hot on the heels of its launch night that was attended by over 50 people at the Strand Theatre last week.
The launch event in the Musical Society’s home theatre was an opportunity for the show’s production team to introduce Man of La Mancha to members and prospective members interested in getting involved in the musical.
Carrick Musical Society PRO Siobhán Grace-Regan said there was a great turn out for the launch event where director Andrew Holden spoke to those gathered about this exciting musical, which will be staged at the Strand between March 22 and 28 next year.
Man of La Mancha will be staged exactly 30 years after Carrick Musical Society’s first production of the musical inspired by Cervantes’ famous novel Don Quixote. Michael Lonergan who played the Padre in the Society’s 1995 production was at last week’s launch event.
Ms Grace-Regan said the first choral rehearsals under chorus mistress Laura Cotter take place at the Strand Theatre this Wednesday, November 19 at 7.30pm. Other choral rehearsals before Christmas will take place on Wednesdays, November 18 and December 10. Auditions for principle roles take place at the Strand on Sunday, December 14.
In addition to Mr Holden and Ms Cotter, the show’s production team include musical director Fergal Carroll, choreographer Claire O’Hara and production manager Padraig Sheehan.
