A town in Tipperary has made a callout to locals to help decorate the town centre's Christmas Tree.

Local Councillor Liam Browne has made a callout to the people of Cashel 'to help turn the Christmas tree on the Plaza, into a real symbol of community.'

In his social media post he added: "We would like people to donate a bauble, a ball, a bow or a ribbon to decorate the tree.

"Each decoration will represent loved ones, someone special to you, who may have passed on, or family and friends who can’t make it home, or for many friends who are at home while you are away, this Christmas.

"To make it even more special, maybe take that decoration from your own tree at home, and add it to the town tree?
Make the tree our own, and your own.

"More details will be given out during the week," said the councillor.

The date of the Christmas Tree decorating will be Sunday next week (December 13) with the exact time to be announced.

Councillor Browne also asked for people to please use non-breakable decorations.

"Let’s come together and make this tree a beautiful reflection of our community spirit," he said.
