Minister for Agriculture Martin Heydon presented the winners' cheques for €500 to Jona Power age 12, from Fethard in the under 18 category and the over 18 winning cheque was won by Sheila Callanan from Westmeath.
The competition, now in its second year, is a very successful collaboration between a major farming organisation and an environmental group and attracts hundreds of entries from all over the country, testifying to the popularity of these vital landscape features.
Alan Moore, Secretary of Hedgerows Ireland, spoke of the significance of a major farming organisation working hand in hand with a voluntary environmental group to highlight the importance of our native hedgerow corridors.
'It's the way forward' said Alan Moore.

1st Prize over 18 Sheila Callanan Westmeath 'coming home for tea'
1st Prize under 18 Jona Power , Fethard, Co. Tipperary, 'Hedge fairy'
