There was no shortage of talent on display from Tipperary footballers on Monday as CBS High School Clonmel produced a superb TUS Corn Uí Mhuirí round three victory at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh 4G on Monday.

Their fully deserved eight point win, achieved in their first year back in the competition, secured a place in the knockout draw. They finished second in Group 1, one point behind St Francis College and one ahead of Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine, who are now out of contention.

Nine players got on the scoresheet among a group that showed quality right across the pitch.

CBS had to respond after falling 1-3 to 0-1 behind in the opening quarter, with David Grebowiec hitting the net for Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine in the fourth minute.

They also suffered a setback before throw-in when corner back Brandon Landers picked up an injury in the warm up. Oisín O Reilly stepped in to replace him.

The turning point arrived on 15 minutes when Luke Foley struck a long range two point free from near the sideline, and the Tipp side pushed on impressively from there.

A minute later joint captain Luke Hannigan scored a brilliant solo goal to put his team in front, and they never let the lead slip.

Joint captain Mikey McGuire added another goal that came from a one two move with Conor Freaney, and by the 20th minute the advantage had stretched to 2-6 to 1-4.

Aidan O Sullivan kept the Kenmare school in touch by turning his marker and finishing to the net, but CBS still reached half time four points ahead at 2-8 to 2-4.

Having played against the wind in the first half, CBS restarted strongly and an alert Finn Napier pounced for their third goal.

Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine were held scoreless throughout the third quarter, although Oisín O'Connor later hit the net and top scored with 1-9 to narrow the margin to 3-9 to 3-6.

Clonmel answered again with strong resolve, and Freaney pushed the gap back out with their fourth goal.

Their depth was underlined late on when substitute Jamal Yousif was fouled for a penalty in stoppage time, which Dylan McCormack confidently converted.
