New book provides an inviting panorama of contemporary south Tipperary art

The Random Artist of South Tipperary is a collaborative book that was launched recently

The Random Artist of South  Tipperary is a collaborative book brought to life by Marine Kearney, local artist from Clonmel, with crucial support from David Anchell of Camida.

It shines a light on twenty south Tipperary artists, each offering a personal statement and three artworks that together map the region’s rich tapestry of creativity.

The project marks three years since RATS began, steered by Eon De Leaster and David Anchell, and it crystallizes from regular in-town gatherings where artists exchange ideas, share feedback, and plan new directions. We also thanks Dermot Dougan, President of the Donoughmore 's Club , for allowing the group to reflect, gather and making this journey possible.

R.A.T.S is a carefully crafted keepsake designed to be treasured beyond the season. Its format and presentation honor the meticulous work of the contributing artists, reflecting both the intimacy of personal statements and the breadth of technique across the twenty voices. The result is a cohesive, inviting panorama of contemporary south Tipperary art. A perfect coffee art-book for your Christmas.

South Tipperary’s landscapes—the rolling green curves, quiet rivers, and dramatic skies—act as a living studio for the artists. Inspired by morning light on the Galtee hills, the stillness of the Suir’s edges, and the textures of local ruins and gardens, each artist translates place into practice.

The book invites readers to experience how memory, terrain, and mood converge to fuel diverse approaches—from painting and sculpture to mixed media, and printmaking.
