Tipperary County Council has lodged a Part VIII application for site remediation works at Ballypadeen, Cashel, which includes the demolition of the unfinished homes, the removal of four metal cabins and the installation of palisade fencing.
Deputy McGrath said the plan was difficult to justify given housing demand in the county, where more than 3,500 people remain on the waiting list.
Deputy McGrath stated:“In the midst of a national housing crisis, it is incomprehensible to me that viable housing stock would be destroyed rather than refurbished and allocated for social and affordable housing.”
Plans and reports can be viewed at council offices in Clonmel, Nenagh and Tipperary Town, as well as online, until 20 January 2026. Submissions must be made by 4.30pm on 3 February 2026.
“I strongly urge the public to engage with this process and make their views known. This is a critical opportunity to ensure proper planning and sustainable development that prioritises housing needs and responsible use of public funds” said Deputy McGrath.
