Pupils from 13 schools in the district participated in Carrick-on-Suir & District Lions Club’s Peace Poster competition with Hanna Ryan from Piltown National School declared the overall winner.
Together as One was the theme of the art competition, which was judged by local artists Kathleen Farrell and Stephen Power and coordinated by Carrick Lions Club Peace Poster Officers Pat Murphy and Margaret Doyle.
Hanna Ryan’s winning poster will represent Carrick Lions Club in the national Peace Poster competition.
Lions Club member Pat Murphy was honoured with an award of appreciation for his dedicated leadership and outstanding service in coordinating Peace Poster competition, inspiring young artists and promoting the message of peace in the community for over 20 years.
Pat spoke of how young people all over the world took part in this competition and praised the young budding artists in the town and its environs.
