Tipperary teenager was national pitch and putt champion for the second year in a row

Sarah Ryan became the first female to win the the Under 16 County Strokeplay Championship

Tipperary Hills Pitch and Putt club celebrated a double victory for Sarah Ryan over one weekend in August.

The 14-year-old won the Under 16 County Strokeplay Championship in Larkspur Park Pitch and Putt Club, Cashel on Friday, becoming the first female to win the title.

She then followed that up two days later with a win in the Community Games National final in Westport, county Mayo. Sarah won the Community Games title on a score of six under par.

However, the best was yet to come for the Tipperary teenager.

A month later she won the Girls Under 16 National Matchplay Championship in Fermoy, which meant she was a national champion for the second year in a row, having won the same title in 2024.

The teenager is coached by her father Jimmy Ryan, who is dedicated to developing the juvenile players at the Tipperary Hills Pitch and Putt Club.

Sarah's achievements in 2025 earned her an Annerville award, sponsored by Bulmers, which she and the other Tipperary amateur sports stars of the year will receive from the Tipperary United Sports Panel at the Talbot Hotel on Saturday night, January 10.
