The hotel, which employs approximately 20 staff, has been on the market as a going concern with a guide price of €1 million and is understood to be close to concluding a change in ownership.

The company has been in receivership since 2022, marking a period of uncertainty for both employees and patrons.

During the closure, all staff will be temporarily laid off, reflecting the transitional nature of the current phase rather than permanent redundancies.

In a statement on the hotel’s social media channels, management expressed optimism about the future, stating that it hopes to reopen in early Spring 2026.

The post also extended thanks to customers and club members for their understanding and continued support, signalling a desire to maintain goodwill during the hiatus.

The closure has implications for local tourism and the leisure industry in the region. Kilcoran Lodge, situated near the M8 on the old Dublin to Cork (R639) route, has historically served both as a hotel and a leisure destination for visitors to Cahir and the surrounding areas.

Its temporary suspension of operations may disrupt bookings, events, and memberships, although management has assured customers with any queries about bookings or gift vouchers to contact the hotel directly via email at admin@kilcoranlodge.ie

The hotel’s impending change of ownership and temporary closure highlight the challenges faced by mid-sized regional hotels in Ireland.
