Carmel will receive her award at the Camogie Association’s Media, Volunteer, and Referee Awards on Saturday, January 31.

Carmel’s recognition is a testament to her years of dedicated service to both club and county. An outstanding volunteer, she is widely regarded as the heart and soul of Ballina Camogie Club. She currently serves as Vice Chairperson, Field Coordinator, Coach Coordinator, and coach selector for both minor and adult teams.

In addition, Carmel coaches annually in local schools, a role that has been instrumental in re-engaging young players and ensuring strong participation at the start of each season.

“She has inspired and encouraged girls to play camogie with passion and confidence,” said Ballina Camogie Chairperson Edel Neary.

Carmel’s commitment extends beyond the club to the county level. In 2025, she managed the Tipperary U14B team and served as a selector for the Tipperary U23 team.

She is also a hardworking member of the Tipperary Development Committee and the Tipperary PR Committee, in addition to serving as Munster Delegate.

A passionate advocate for women in sport, Carmel has inspired countless girls to participate in camogie with confidence, pride, and belief in themselves.

She always puts the interest of the players first and approaches every role with energy, enthusiasm, and a smile.

Ballina Camogie Club voiced extreme pride at seeing Carmel recognized with this richly deserved award. Her dedication, leadership, and unwavering support for camogie in the community have made her an invaluable asset to both club and county. There is no one more deserving of this honour.
