A significant expansion that could transform a school in North Tipperary is currently being examined and considered by planning officials
The Board of Management at St. Anne’s Special School in Roscrea has submitted its application to the Tipperary County Council to construct a single-storey extension at Sean Ross Abbey.
The proposed 1,362-square-metre building will feature six new classrooms, with dedicated spaces for Home Economics and Woodwork.

Plans also call for a welcoming library, specialized rooms for therapy and sensory activities, and a lively courtyard play area. St. Anne’s currently supports 49 pupils and 38 staff members.
A covered drop-off area will make arrivals smoother and more comfortable for the 47 pupils who travel by bus each day.
The council is expected to reach a decision by March 8.
