Dualla National School has been named as one of just three schools nationwide to receive a prestigious National Cumann na mBunscol award in the School of the Year category, marking a major achievement for the school community.
The award ceremony will take place in March at the Inn at Dromoland, where Dualla NS will be recognised for its outstanding work in promoting Gaelic games within the school. The honour places the school among a small number of primary schools across Ireland to be acknowledged at national level for its commitment to Gaelic games and sporting participation.
According to the announcement, the award recognises “all that is done in the school to promote Gaelic games”, highlighting the efforts of pupils and staff alike. The selection of Dualla NS is described as a huge achievement for everyone involved, reflecting sustained work and dedication rather than a single initiative.

Cumann na mBunscol plays a central role in the organisation and promotion of Gaelic games at primary school level throughout Ireland, and its national awards are regarded as a significant endorsement of a school’s sporting ethos and community involvement. Being chosen as one of only three schools in the country underlines the strength of Gaelic games activity within Dualla NS.
The recognition is expected to be a source of pride not only for the school itself, but also for the wider Dualla parish and surrounding area, where Gaelic games continue to play an important role in community life. Achievements at national level help to shine a light on the work being carried out at grassroots level in rural schools.
The award ceremony in March will bring together schools from across Ireland who have demonstrated excellence in the promotion of Gaelic games, with Dualla NS representing the local area on a national stage.
Congratulations have been extended to the pupils and staff of Dualla National School on being selected for this prestigious honour, which recognises both participation and commitment to Gaelic games within the school environment.
