RIP: Tributes paid to 'one of a kind' Tipperary man following sad passing

The death has occured of Gerry Forrestall of St Mary's Avenue, Urlingford, Co Kilkenny, and formerly Kylemakill, Moyne, Thurles, Co Tipperary.

Gerry passed away on January 29, 2026, peacefully surrounded by his family at University Hospital, Waterford.

He is predeceased by his father Martin.

Gerry is sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his heartbroken daughter Chloe and her partner Danny, mother Lizzie, sister Margaret, brother-in-law MJ, nephew Bobby, niece Bella, Chloe's mum Ann, uncles, aunts, extended family, neighbours, work colleagues at Pierce Kavanagh and sons, Urlingford, and a wide circle of friends.

He will lay in repose at Doyle's funeral home Urlingford on Sunday evening from 5pm until 7pm.

His removal will take place on Monday morning to the Church of the Assumption, Urlingford, arriving for Requiem Mass at 11am.

Interment will take place afterwards in the Mill Cemetery, Urlingford.

The family has asked for the house to be kept private.

Tributes have been paid to Gerry online, with one person saying: "Our sincere condolences to Chloe, Lizzie, Margaret, MJ, Bobby Joe, Bella and all his family and wide circle of friends on the tragic passing of Gerry. Another soul gone to soon. I'm sure Uncle Martin was there at the door to greet him with open arms."

Another said: "To Chloe, The Forrestall family and all who grieve Gerry, my heartfelt condolences and sympathies. Gerry was one of a kind, may he rest in perfect peace x."
