Cashel Lions Club is inviting clubs, organisations and individuals to take a look around their community and identify a person who has made and indeed is making a significant contribution to the quality of life in their local community and to nominate this person for the Cashel Person of the Year 2026.
The Cashel Person of the Year is an annual event organised by Cashel Lions Club since 1987.

The award is intended to ‘recognise a person who has contributed to the social, cultural, sporting, artistic, spiritual or community life’ of Cashel and surrounding areas over the last twelve months.
While a contribution to the community in the last twelve months is a major factor in selecting the Cashel Person of the Year 2026, so too is previous and long standing service to the local community.
While the Cashel Person of the Year Award may not have the glitz and glamour of the Academy Awards or the Golden Globes it will hopefully capture the attention of the local community.
Cashel Lions Club believes that volunteerism in Ireland is under threat, and that by recognising local heroes through the Cashel Person of the Year, the club is encouraging volunteers to keep on giving, and also hopefully inspire others to join the shrinking number of volunteers who in many ways are the lifeblood of local communities.
Nominations for Cashel Person of the Year 2026 should be forwarded by email to cashellions@gmail.com or may be given to any member of Cashel Lions Club.

The closing date for nominations is Friday, February 27.
Those nominating are asked to outline the contribution that their nominee is making and had made to the local community.
The person who makes the nomination will also be asked to meet with an independent panel of judges to discuss their nomination.
It is planned to announce the Cashel Person of the Year in early March.
Further details are available on the Cashel Lions Club Facebook page or from any member of Cashel Lions Club.
