Spectators watching the racing action at the Faugheen 50 Road Races a few years ago
The Faugheen 50 motorcycling racing club has issued an appeal for volunteers to help it host its two day sprint series of races on the roads around Faugheen village near Carrick-on-Suir in July.
The two-day sprint motorcycling racing event on July 11 and 12 will mark the 50th anniversary of the first race over the Faugheen 50 race circuit.
In a statement posted on its Facebook page, the Faugheen 50 RR Club said it had been asked over the last few weeks why it was running the sprint races in July and a full road race in 2027.
The club explained that as this year is the 50th anniversary of the first run over the Faugheen 50 circuit it would be remiss of its members not to "recognise the history and heritage of our Faugheen 50 and the circuit.
It said further details about the sprint event will be announced soon with a few surprises being lined up. The club concluded by calling for volunteers to come forward to assist with organising the event: "We need your help to do this, so get involved," the club urged.
