Communities can now nominate 'exceptional' young people for Tipperary Garda Youth Awards

An Garda Síochána in Tipperary have officially launched the Tipperary Garda Youth Awards 2026, with nominations now open for the scheme that honours exceptional young people across the county.

The Garda Youth Awards celebrate outstanding young people aged between 13 and 21 years who are making a meaningful and positive contribution to their communities.

The awards acknowledge the important role young people play in building stronger, safer and more inclusive communities throughout county Tipperary.

Through these awards, Tipperary Gardaí aim to highlight the remarkable achievements of young individuals and groups who, through their actions, leadership, resilience or innovation, are helping to make their communities better places to live.

Awards will also recognise young people who have demonstrated exceptional determination in overcoming personal challenges.

Award Categories

Nominations are invited across four categories:

·         Individual Award – Making a positive contribution to their community, making it a better place to live.

·         Group Award – Group of two or more young people making a positive contribution to the community, making it a better place to live.

·         Special Achievement Award – Overcome difficult circumstances, defied the odds and whose commitment deserves recognition.

·         Community Safety Award – Through a crime prevention or safety initiative/innovation, have made their community a safer place to live.

Nomination forms are now available on the Garda website at www.garda.ie

The closing date for receipt of nominations is Friday, March 27. 

All nominees will be considered by an independent judging panel, who will select winners in each category. This year’s judging panel includes from Tipperary hurling star Brendan Cummins, Tipp FM radio present Andrew Looby and Tipperary ladies football star and Australian Rule player Aishling Moloney. 

The awards ceremony will take place at the Garda College, Templemore on Tuesday, April 28. 

Tipperary Gardaí encourage members of the public, schools, youth organisations and community groups to nominate deserving young people who are making a real difference.
