Warning issued over feeding of water birds at lake in Tipperary

Signs will be posted to inform visitors of this advice regarding the feeding of water birds at Marlfield Lake

The feeding of the water birds on Marlfield Lake near Clonmel with bread is detrimental to their health, as it’s not part of their normal diet and makes them ill.

It also pollutes the water and attracts vermin, particularly if fed on the hard surfaces alongside the lake.

Please feed bird seed, chopped lettuce, corn, oats, cooked rice and cut seedless grapes.

The Marlfield Tidy Village Committee will soon post signs to inform visitors of this advice.
