An information event was held at Cahir House Hotel to share details of the Cahir to Cashel Greenway project for walkers and cyclists. The project team is now looking at possible routes. Under Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) funding rules, the consultants, Fehily Timoney Limited, must present five options. Staff from Fehily Timoney and the Active Travel Unit at Tipperary County Council will attend both events. Local councillors received a project briefing last Monday and agreed that the best option is to use the R639. This former Dublin-to-Cork main road already connects Cahir and Cashel.

Project details will also be shown on a special website, cahir2cashelgreenway.ie, in Council offices in Tipperary town and Clonmel, and in Cahir and Cashel Libraries. Printed copies, maps, brochures, and feedback forms will be available.

Everyone is encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas on the project until March 25th, either online or by emailing cahir2cashelgreenway@ftco.ie. While a formal planning application will be required down the line, supporters are optimistic that the greenway will boost tourism in Cashel and Cahir, inspire visitors to linger, and offer locals a vibrant new space to enjoy. There is also hope that the route could one day link up with the scenic Suir Blueway.
