Concrete bases for picnic tables have been put in, a maze area has been planted, and the ground is ready for simple play equipment like wooden logs and see-saws behind Cashel Palace.
Expert stonemasons are fixing the stone wall on the east side of the site. Two mazes have been planted for children, one for toddlers and one for older kids, both made from hornbeam hedges. More natural materials will be added, along with a wooden walkway that connects to the existing path and the start of Bishops Walk behind Cashel Palace. Concrete bases for picnic tables are now in place, and new paving has been laid on the footpath leading to the Rock of Cashel and the entrance to Bishop’s Walk.
Plans are to apply for additional funding to build an outdoor theatre in the part of the field closest to Camas Road, with a walkway to ensure everyone can use it. Tipperary County Council has rented the land from Cashel Palace Hotel.
