The Motor Tax office is located beside the Town Hall in Clonmel
Incidents of anti-social behaviour at Clonmel library and at the Motor Tax office at the Town Hall in Parnell Street, Clonmel have led to security guards being deployed at both buildings.
District Manager Jonathan Cooney has stated that, as an organisation, Tipperary County Council had a duty of care to its employees and the members of the public.
He told a meeting of Clonmel Borough District that the gardaí had been informed about the incidents that had happened.
He said that there had been a review of the situation at both buildings and there could be a change in this policy in the coming weeks.
Cllr John FitzGerald asked if other staff could be deployed to do that job, rather than incurring the expense of hiring security guards.
