The Obama Plaza deli team impressed judges with consistent standards and strong customer engagement.
Pat McDonagh commended the team’s focus on quality: “Our deli offering is hugely important to the overall customer experience. The team at Obama Plaza have set the benchmark in terms of freshness, presentation and service. It’s a fantastic achievement.”
Obama Plaza continues to serve thousands of customers weekly and remains a flagship destination within the group.
Opened in 2014, Obama Plaza is located on the Tipperary side of the Tipperary-Offaly border, near the town of Moneygall.
The plaza was named in honour of the 44th President of the United States Barack Obama, whose third great-grandfather, Falmouth Kearney, originally lived in Moneygall, before emigrating to the United States in 1850.
The plaza opened in May of 2014, with an Obama museum and visitor centre opening on July 4 of the same year, coinciding with the US Independence Day.
